Join the Asheville Museum of History as we return to our celebration of the Annual Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award! Since 1955, when the award was created by the Louis Lipinsky family and first awarded to Wilma Dykeman for her book, The French Broad, the Thomas Wolfe Memorial Literary Award recognizes excellence in literature from authors across Western North Carolina writing about their region. 

 

 2024-2025 FINALISTS 

 

This year’s finalists were chosen from an original group of more than 30 nominations. The finalists, listed below in alphabetical order, encompass a broad range of genres and forms.

The celebration will begin at the Ferguson Auditorium on A-B Tech campus at 19 Tech Drive, Asheville, NC 28801 at 6:00 p.m. with select passage readings from the finalists and award presentation. 

 

A 7:00 p.m. reception will follow at the Asheville Museum of History (a three-minute walk or drive from the Auditorium) at 283 Victoria Road, Asheville, NC 28801 with refreshments and book signings.

Tickets and registration are FREE to all attendees and museum members. Registration is required to attend. Catherine Frank, director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UNC Asheville, will chair the award panel this year.
